“…lately I ain’t been prayin’ much”
This collection is an honest conversation about my spiritual disconnect in the present day. Praying the right prayers comes through repetition and consistency. It is a muscle that you have to exercise frequently. Without the discipline of daily prayer, it becomes easy to be distracted by intrusive thoughts, much like the common struggle of maintaining focus during meditation. The result is a prayer that feels disjointed and fragmented, like collage itself.
Each of these works represents those fragmented prayers intertwined with intrusive thoughts about where we are as a society, where I find myself internally, and what the world around me looks like today.
Prayer and meditation are one and the same. Both seek to achieve a similar sense of connection and require the same physical and mental space. Whether you are praying to a higher power or seeking connection with a divine center, the practice demands intention, discipline, and time.
