Paper collage mounted on watercolor paper

This composition is a battle between prayer and intrusive thoughts. A reflection on the struggle to find spiritual grounding in a world saturated with distraction. It explores the experience of attempting to pray when the practice has become unfamiliar. When stillness feels distant and the connection between mind, body, and spirit has weakened through neglect.

At the center of the work is a mind crowded by competing signals. Intrusive thoughts, responsibilities, information, and anxieties interrupt the quiet space required for reflection. The desire for peace remains present, but reaching it feels increasingly difficult as internal and external noise accumulate. What should be a moment of communion becomes a negotiation with distraction.

The fragmented architecture of the composition mirrors this condition. Spiritual figures, displaced objects, landscapes, and anatomical references collide within a single space, creating a visual representation of a consciousness searching for clarity. The work exists in the tension between chaos and calm, illustrating the challenge of remaining present when the mind is constantly being pulled elsewhere.

This piece is ultimately a prayer for silence. A meditation on the effort required to reconnect with oneself and a reminder that stillness is not something we find, but something we practice.
